post your chicken coop pictures here!

We moved this past Fall to a new house on 9 acres. The only problem was that the land, except for the acre that our house sits on, is all wooded. So instead of fighting the trees, we decided to use them to help us build our coop.
We made a log cabin, which is roughly 8 X 8, and houses our 6 Golden Comets and our Barred Rock Roo.

Beautiful coops on this page! Can't wait to finish mine and post photos.

Well hurry up

I think it's really neat that some people build coops that add to their landscaping. We re-purposed an old wood shed - six posts with a roof. It made sense because there was a concrete slab under 1/3 of the roof, the roof was metal and solid, and the condition under which I could raise chickens was that it wouldn't cost too much, although we never quite quantified what too much is. Most of materials I used (except hardware, door and window) was recycled fencing and construction lumber. Door and window came from a salvage place. Not pretty, but functional and solid. I am glad I insulated it well - 2"x6" fir siding, 2" insulation and 1/2" plywood for the interior.
