I was curious to how many silkies you house in your coop. My DH is going to build me a coop for my silkies and I have been leaning towards this style of coop. I like the look and they seem they wont cost a fortune to build.

Our smaller Silkie coop, also has the sloped roof too.

I was curious to how many silkies you house in your coop. My DH is going to build me a coop for my silkies and I have been leaning towards this style of coop. I like the look and they seem they wont cost a fortune to build.

We house six in this coop, and you are right, they don't cost a fortune! Some of the smaller details, if you are interested, are visible, but harder to see. The pull string to the right of the door raises and lowers the house door from the outside. The entire side you see is hinged for easy clean out from the outside. There is a egg collecting door on the backside not visible in the photo. We have two roost and two nest boxes inside. My DH built this in a weeend, if you are interested PM me, and I will be happy to show you more photos.

Our coop is done!!! It is an open air coop. The chickens love it!! We added a run on the side after I took this picture. The front is hardware cloth, There is a door on the left that now opens into the run.

got a bit sidetracked this weekend put up a new fence this weekend. But i got enough scrap from that to side the coop getting there

Wonderful pictures of coops!! We have not started building our chickens coop yet because our little ones are somewhere between 5-6 weeks old, they are feathering out at different stages so I am guessing different ages. I keep them in the house in the spare bedroom, when they outgrew the large patio furnature box they were in, this is what we built to house them in until we move them outside. It comes apart easily to move it outside on nice days. The blue is a liner that I take out and clean then put fresh litter down for them on.
