First egg this morning. Purchased two more hens from Harry, 2 SLWs on Friday night. They are seven months old and laying. Weather was real crappy last few days so I'm thinking more eggs tomorrow as its cleared up and the new birds have settled in.

Got my first egg today from one of my RIR girls, Gladys !!!!! Problem was it froze !!! Poor egg ! However, not a bad size, a small. I think they need something to toughen up the shells though...little soft and wobbley as it defrosted. At least she layed it in the coop...if not in one of the 5 nests. Of course it didn't help that yesterday and day before were the 2 coldest days so far this year. The RIRs are just about 25 wks old and she has 5 sisters.

Found THREE at once! Two of them came today for sure. The other I missed at first because it was buried. Two were in the same "wrong" place (obviously she thought it was dandy) and 1 actually made it into a nesting box. My girls are 18 weeks.
