Yay! Found this today on the clean end of the poop board. They've been "singing" loudly, or making a racket, depending on your musical sensibilities for a couple of mornings. I'm assuming this was from Buffy, the BO as she was the most restless and the noisiest, but it's possible that it could be the BR's. Not sure how to tell the difference without catching them in the act
Well today Rose, one of our Rhode Island Reds, after much cackling and fanfare, bestowed upon us a perfect little brown egg. She is 20 weeks and 6 days old. She laid it in the nesting box like a good little student. I am a proud mama hen.
The egg on the left is from one of my year old Ameracaunas...the egg on the right was just laid for the first time by my 20 week old Barred Plymouth Rock.
I finally get to post here!
Doodle (Serama) laid her very first egg on August 25 2010.
She is about 6 1/2 months old.
It is a perfect little brown egg. I am super happy!
To the left, the smallest egg is Doodle's and the egg on the right that is bigger is from a Naked Neck hen.
And the right picture is of Doodle and her egg!
Today another chicken gave us a tender little suprise. I am not sure she even knows it happened. I found it in the run near the waterer.
store bought xl egg, first egg from RIR yesterday, first egg from ? today Sooooooo tiny
I thought it would be from my Barred Rock, but it was my Old English Game Bantam that laid the first one. I am not sure what I am supposed to do with it though. Eat it?
