We got our first egg today from our Black Australorp mix. It was a bluish green egg, much to our surprise!

* Not actual size.

First egg ever from any of our chickens. Woo Hoo!

The first two chickens both turned out to be roos which were re-homed. This is from one of the 2 ISA Browns/Gold Stars that replaced those original EE roos.

I was bringing some straw to put in the nest boxes at the coop where they've been in "foster care" while we are moving and in escrow on a house with a yard.

I pulled out the (low) nest boxes and there was an egg hiding in the space between the box and the wall.

I put the straw in the boxes and pushed them up against the walls, so hopefully the next eggs will end up in the box.

Finally got our first one! I don't know which one did it, but it's the most expensive egg we'll ever have. Good girls!

I finally got my first egg from one of my 19 girls. I know it wasn't the EEs (hopefully), the Anconas or the Andalusian. Other than that, its anyones guess. I do know they are all 21 weeks and 3 days. The Barred Plymouth Rock was camped out in a different box this morning but no egg there. My best guess would be Sussex, Black Australorp, or Barred Plymouth Rock.

ETA: It was the Barred Plymouth Rock

Obviously its the small one. The larger egg is a "regular" sized egg from the farmers market.
