Thanks for showing us your egg-skelter - I want one! I also emailed the manufacturer, but haven't heard back.

Thanks, Sharol -- your link didn't turn up on my Internet search earlier today -- I've now written to both sources to get price + shipping to US. Question: my eggs run from small to Jumbo, does anything other than small to medium work on the one you got?? Thanks!

It took my Buff Orpington 25 weeks and 1 day. I just switched them over to layer feed 2 days ago. I wonder how much that helped. I'm so thrilled!!!

The brown egg is our 1st ever egg. We found it today 1-17-2011, We are comparing it to a white egg from the store. We arent sure which one layed it, but we have a RIR, 2 Barred Rocks, and 1 Buff Orpington. We are all soooo excited!!!

Got our first egg today. I have 3 hens (Red Star, Austrolorp, EE) and they are 18 weeks old! Not sure who the proud momma is. I didn't expect an egg so soon, it being winter and all, but I guess SoCal winter doesn't count

Got our first egg ever yesterday (far right) and our second today (middle)! To say I was excited was an understatement. Many people got emails and picture texts!

My hens that just laid (I only have two who are laying age) are still on 15%, plus table food (vegetables and whole grains only) and organic scratch (and I throw in some oyster shells for good measure). They are sharing their coop with five Buff Orpies, who are almost three months old, so I don't want to take away the 15%. Suggestions?

I haven't eaten the eggs yet. I'm too proud and have to show them off. The second egg (Jacqui's) was laid while I was in the coop this morning, and that's how I know it was hers. It was magical!

My two laying girls are Black Copper Marans, and I thought their eggs would be darker, but don't mind that they're not. I won't be breeding them for chicks or selling the eggs, so I'm content.

It is 2°F and the wind chill is -20°F today, but the coop has a heat lamp and heated water, so it seems the girls are nice and cozy.

I know just what you mean by magical. My Golden Campine (who has morphed from a nervous, skittish girl to a loving lap chicken since she started squatting) laid her second egg practically in my lap one morning. She NEVER uses a nest box, and I find her eggs just about anywhere in the coop. Then yesterday I got the first egg with a hard shell from my partridge rock. I was getting worried about her after 2 weeks of soft shelled/broken eggs under the roost. It's like Christmas morning every day with little presents in the coop.

Well, I just joined today and we started getting eggs about 2 weeks ago, but here's a picture of some of the first -- all a lovely light blue-green. The proud layer is Blanche, our green-footed Ameracauna/EE (we're not sure which breed she belongs to).
