We got our first egg today from Beatrice, a Buff Orpington. She's been squatting for a week and two days. She'll be 20 weeks old on Monday. Her egg is so cute!

First two from my ISA, and she has laid every day since (this is day six- she is working on today's offering right now), all of them in the box. Today however I was awakened by our singer, an as of yet non-laying EE pullet going off, louder and earlier than ever, and it appears that another one is going for it right now. My Austrolorp went into the coop and has yet to come back out, though it could be all the racket.

Still no eggs from the EE's, and only slight squatting, but they sure are sounding the alarms.

First egg laid by Spot, one of my BR's. She's always been a leader and trouble maker so today she made it up to us.

The first egg is a standard store xl egg, then spots and then a quarter. It weighed 34 grams which isn't even a small egg I don't think but I know they'll get bigger. Looks like it is time to get back to work on the coops. The nest boxes were supposed to have a hinged exterior door. but due to other events this summer they got a quick piece of plywood.

And I thought I was the only one who took a picture of their first egg!

I believe it's from Nadine one of my EE's 18 weeks old on the dot. I put out calcium the day before. it was July 30. since then I usually get 2 eggs a day out of 7 pullets. I believe only 3 are laying nadine, smokey and josephine who lays light beige eggs. (I guess she doesn't know she's supposed to be an americauna, must not have read the sign at the store

) i put plastic easter eggs (all blue ones of course
