Here are the first two eggs gathered from my chickens this past Sunday. I have since collected 3 more, which are quite a bit smaller than these two... I am a little disappointed though that the White Leghorns that we are butchering started laying first... haven't found any brown eggs yet... but my chickens are free ranging and spend quite a bit of time in the bushes... so I'm sure there are some in there that I can't get to!! Gotta get my nesting boxes built!!!!

I haven't had any eggs yet but tonight when I went to change the waters I had my first squatter so it won't be long now. Definitely a good thing because I have a rooster from the same hatch that is turning aggressive and I am kind of bummed that I will have to send him to freezer camp. He is squaring off on my son. Not attacking yet but I won't take the chance that he hurts my boy. It's good that something good is happening at the same time. I have plenty of other roosters that would love to take his place and soon I will have eggs as well

Large, local farm egg from a friend's girls for size and color comparison.

I found a pretty green egg Monday, August 8th from my golden EE Stella! It's smaller than it looks in my hand, it's probably about a small-medium. Tuesday she laid a bluish one exact same size.

Stella is on the right.

My hubby said Rosie, EE on the left, was in the nest box this morning and wouldn't come out of the coop. Sounds like another egg!
