beautiful, what kind of breeds do you have that could have laid it? I would love to have eggs like that!

Finally, my second pullet has started laying! Of course, the first that started 2 weeks ago has mysteriously stopped laying for 5 days straight now...

Henrietta laid this this morning while I watched on the "Chicken Channel" (my security feed into the house)! She was very quiet about the whole process, Gertrude was letting the entire county know when she was in the process of laying an egg and it takes her about 2 hours to get it out...Henri was done in about 20 minutes! Can you tell I'm impressed? Lol!

Henri is the chicken in front with more white on her chest...the other chicken is "Clyde"...she's supposed to be a she but no egg yet from her!

Finally, my first egg! August 4th. Of course not anywhere near a nest box... One of my Red Stars, 18 weeks 4 days old, and I'm surprised I'm getting any with this dang heat. Triple digits the past 37 days! I found 2 more yesterday too!

My 18-week-olds are Barred Rock, Black Star, and EE.
My 17-week-olds are two White Leghorns and two Golden Comets.

My hunch is the Barred Rock or Black Star, but I have no idea! I got another one today. It looked very similar in size, shape, and color to the first. It was slightly less "lacey."

We got our first egg yesterday. We bought a pullet to replace the roo we had and had to return to the farm we got him from. We weren't interested in keeping a rooster. Raspberry, a golden comet who is 4 months old, laid her first egg when she was at our home for an hour! Last night, when everyone was asleep, we placed her in the hen house with all the other girls. Late this morning she laid her second egg. Right in the nest box! No training necessary. Here's hoping that she shames the other girls into action!

We got her from the same guy that we got three of our chicks. Very well cared for animals that are in great shape. He runs a grange in Seattle and I couldn't recommend his business more highly than to say that I would probably never buy a chicken from anyone else.

Everyone is getting along today - other than a few minor scuffles.

The very first egg weighing in at a hefty 41 grams.

The second egg weighing in at a slightly less portly 40 grams.

Yea! First egg here! All our pullets are 20 weeks old yesterday. No clue which one actually did the deed but here's our HUGE first egg. I thought they were supposed to weird and tiny so I feel really lucky.

The white one is a store bought large sized egg.

I suspect my Wyandotte laid this one as it seems pretty light for RIR or Production Red egg. Here's a different angle of our huge first egg.

ETA: How do you guys know who lays an egg? The egg was just in our hen house this morning on the floor. My sassy early bird that laid it had been up in the nest box because she knocked one of the golf balls to the floor to lay her egg with.

Another of my hens is laying!!!! We got our 2nd 1st egg today! Here they both are. They are the same color so now I suspect my red hens are the ones responsible for making my day!
