Put my 3 stooges (2 white leghorn hens and a mongrel EE rooster) out at about 6 am and we sat and had morning coffee together as usual before they wandered off into the woods. I got the best surprise ever when I went out to check on them. The rooster was screaming cause he couldn't find one of his girls. I found her in the coop alone at about 8:00 am her egg was still warm. The other girl laid her first egg in the coop around 11:00 am. My son had scrambled eggs for lunch, he said they were the best eggs he ever ate.

Such good hens, they laid them in the coop. My freind has a bunch of hens from the same hatching and they have been laying for weeks, I was afraid they were laying them out in the woods. I would hug them but as they are leghorns they are just content to sit next to me and talk to me, they really don't like to be handled, so we just hugged the rooster, he loves snuggling.
