Ours just started laying last week!

We are up to 4 a day- starting today!!!

We have been getting eggs from the BTW Japanese and Doms for a while now. Yesterday I got an unusually dark egg and wondered if it was a (disappointing) Maran egg. Today I watched a Maran pullet lay the second egg on the top row. The one next to it is the dark one from yesterday. Bottom right corner a BTW Japanese egg. All the others are most likely from my Doms. The really long one was a first egg for one of my Doms. I watched her lay it today

I haven't seen my BO, EE's, or Australorps even look at the nest boxes yet! These eggs are all from Sat. and Sun. of this week.

Here is my Black Sex Link's (Hattie) first egg that was laid weeks ago. First pic is the community involvement before Hattie laid her egg. I absolutely love the pic with the little feathered butts sticking out of the chicken coop.....it couldn't have gotten more congested in a small space

I have 7 hens so I don't know which one laid these, but they were super yummy tasty in the frypan!! I'm so proud of all of my girls!

Edited to add: They were all found just this morning.

Do NOT let your teenagers read this post!!! My son thought it would be hilarious to put an egg from the store in my coop, and I bought it lock, stock and barrell!! Ran around showing every one my egg, posted it on facebook, called the in-laws and claimed it was the best egg I ever ate ~ only to have been punked!! Dam teenagers!!!

Well the wait is finally over. Our EE had her first egg at 28 1/2 weeks.

Lucy is the one responsible for this beautiful egg.

This is from a while back and this is my favorite hen's first egg!!! She layed in the woods while out free-ranging!!! She is a black australorp named Nugget and she laid her first egg when she was around 20 weeks old!!!

congrats to everyone who just got their first eggs!!!

ETA: we blew out the yolk and kept the egg shell

Nine days after our White Leghorn (Ethel) started laying, our RIR Virginia has decided to get in the game! It's quite chilly this morning, but this beautiful brown egg was still quite warm when we found it...eggs don't get much fresher than that. Ethel's last egg is to the left.

Now if we can our EE going, we'd really have something. She's the same age, but hasn't even started squatting yet.
