This was my first egg a few days ago

Then I got this one

These came from my Barred Rock hen Roseann. Since she started laying there is now another hen laying, but I haven't figured out which one yet.

A week early before the grand opening of "motel chix"... Here is Ms. Bea's first egg! I forgot to post it and umm... and as of a few hours ago it's in my belly

I ate my first 3 eggs. Then, I found a jelly egg.

Then today- a bunch of clucking from my 2 Rhode Island Reds outside the kitchen door. How convenient! I found this clutch of 8 with Penny setting.

I don't have a rooster, so I plan to put Mallard eggs in the nest. If Penny is determined to go broody, I want her to have babies. I hope she is not upset, but those eggs are now in the fridge.

One is huge - hence the clucking I suppose.

Ha! When I finally found a Mallard egg to put in the nest, there was a ninth egg - completing my first dozen from my first ever chickens AND they are leaving the eggs conveniently right by the kitchen door.

My chickens are perfect.

I suspect this was from Drumstick my bantam barnevelder as she was laying before I got her and the other two aren't quite ready yet. However, it is MY first egg so I am really really excited!

Using your red crayon, circle the egg that made Prudy SKWAAAKKK!!!

9 makes my first dozen. I would have never found them beside the kitchen door if Prudy had not laid the big one.

WE GOT OUR FIRST EGG!!

Its a small white one! we have six chickens: two barred rocks, two ees, one Leghorn mix (called an Ideal236) and one Polish. I hate to say it but i think this egg belongs to the polish! I'd have thought the Leghorn would have laid first but i dont know, the egg is very small and Polish has been SUPER loud lately. Any way to tell for sure? And is this a sign i should start getting eggs from MORE of my chickens?!

Finally, my Easter Egger has decided to start contributing to breakfast! Got home and found the usual brown and white eggs...plus this dazzling lil' blue/green number! No heavyweight at 39 grams, but a great start to Hana's egg-laying career.

Finally getting eggs at 22 1/2 weeks! I figured out today they are from the Red when she laid the 2nd one today, first was 2 days ago. Now the other two just need to start doing their share
