Ok, so I though that my one chicken, Meenie might have been laying for a couple of days, but couldn't find the spot. So I kept them in the pen for most of the morning to see if I could get her to lay in the pen to be sure. And she did.
After some careful checking around the area I thought she was laying in, I also found these. It was a little hard to see nook that she'd been getting herself into to lay.
Although we are new to the backyard hen club, we have been eggerly waiting and anticipating our first egg. Yesterday, husband was home early and was ear witness to the joyful event. He said it sounded like one of the girls was hurt or in some kind of trouble, so he and the dogs went in search of the commotion. They headed out to the back deck, and only counted 3 of the 4 girls on the spa deck. Still searching for the source of the screaming, he and the dogs ventured to the lower decks. He witnessed Kernal Nugget coming out of the Coop, all disheveled with feathers all asunder... He checked in the coop and there it was. The best looking brown egg he had ever seen...
