The Red Star and two Polish (one a definite rooster) are about a month, month and a half younger than the three "Welsummers". I've been researching breeds more closely now that my hens are older, and I -really- think they may be light brown Leghorns! Big floppy combs, yellow skin/legs, white eggs. Sounds like my girls.

technically my 2nd egg, because the 1st got stepped on in the run. i'm pretty sure it is from my silver laced wynadotte.

These are from my Red Star "Star" (darker brown eggs), Buff Orpington "Duchess" (light brown eggs) and my little Buff Cochin Bantam "Diva" (cream colored eggs). Our Americana is not laying yet and she is older. She gets picked on by the Red Star. Could she not lay because she is stressed out? So far they all lay every day. Once in a while the Bantam skips a day.

Love the dark brown eggs! My Cuckoo Maran turned out to be a Rooster and we had to get rid of him due to the neighbors did not like the crowing. :(

I think it takes a bit longer for the EEs t start laying. Mine didn't start until 27 weeks old but it was well worth the wait - such pretty colored eggs! Now I'm waiting for my two stars to start laying. They're at 21 weeks now. The waiting is so hard.
