Got my very first egg today from one of my Barred Rocks. It was very tasty.

Success! This afternoon we were blessed with our first egg. It wasn't in the nest, but very carefully laid on the floor between the waterer's and feeders.

Not sure which of our gals did the deed, but that's ok, we have a couple dozen who will soon all get into the act.

Tomorrow, we're going to modify their nest boxes, moving them outside the coop, with an opening through the wall for them. I've lined their boxes with merino sheep's wool (we have some that's not sellable), so they're nice and comfy.

WhooHoo!!!
I get to join the club!!

We found our first egg today. Laid by Daisy Mae, I'm pretty sure.

Hope the pic shows...

That's an egglands best egg behind it, for size comparison.

Just posted my first ever pic on this site, too. Whew. I feel like I should go pop a bottle of champagne

I found another egg in the nest box today when I got home from work. This will make it #4. I'm not sure which of my chickininas laid it cause it had a grayish little poofy feather ( guess someone called them petticoats. Anyway, here is a pix. This egg has little speckles on it.

Not my first egg since I've had chickens a couple of years now, but this is Barred Rock Amanda's very first one laid today. She's one of six of my youngest pullets. Five more to go, and two should lay blue ones.

i FINALLY get to post here! i started another thread in my haste and excitement, but here it is again. My 22 week old EE Penny became a woman today! It cracked as she just popped it out while up on her roost, but looks yummy anyways.

Fresh eggs! My son went out to make sure the feeder was full and found three beautiful little brown eggs! There are 19 hens in the run so I'm not sure who is laying but there must be three of them. We'll see what tomorrow brings!

We had rain here, earlier today, so I was good and started cleaning the spare bedroom so I could get the houseplants and orchids moved back inside for fall/winter. Fed/watered the flock around 9 a.m. and got so busy indoors that I never locked anything down until almost 7 this evening.

Our Banties turned 19 weeks old on Monday and I made sure their was a nest box placed in the main coop at 18 weeks, just incase ( checking the box daily has been a habit since week 18).

When I went to lock the main coop down, something told me to check the nest box...just incase. I see two golfballs at first, then recall that I only put one golfball in the nest!

It's either a light brown egg from one of three Mottled Cochin pullets or a tinted one from one of our three EE pullets. Will spy more tomorrow and figure it out! I'm so eggcited!!! When you least eggspect it!!!

This is just awesome since I didn't expect anyone to be laying yet. I'm going to finish up in the green room then go hang out and see if I can spot the culprit!

Busted...
