Just found this thread and it looks like fun. Our chickens were born May 1st and we started getting eggs October 2nd. Here is our first (egg on left) next to a larger store bought grade A large.

And since then they look more like this:

We have 5 Buff Orpingtons and 4 Plymouth Barred Rocks.

Our 3rd egg , but the 1st white egg from my WLH Snowball. Its oblong with a nice hard shell.

Ok...I now have a "first egg" from 3 of our 4 pullets (our Black Australorp isn't even squatting yet, so I assume she's a bit behind the others).

Today was the first egg from our EE..and our second! I found her first long, pointy green egg this morning and noticed she seemed to be going broody...I had to keep pushing her out of the nesting box to go back outside. Later in the afternoon, there was her second egg! (I felt very guilty for kicking her out of her nest!) Second green egg was more round.

So, in the box, two brown in upper left are from Roxy, the Columbian Wyandotte, two green from Scully, our EE, and one brown speckled up front from Lucy, our Barred Rock. (The two white eggs are store-bought large).

All eggs have come out very pretty with hard shells, but all are coming out "small". These breeds are supposed to lay large eggs...is it likely they will increase in size?

Do you have 1 EE or 2? Did I read correct that you got 2 green eggs in one day from one pullet? The shades are a little different and look like it could be a different EE laying. Maybe its just me though lol.

Nope, both eggs from same pullet the same day. I only have one EE in my flock. All others are brown egg layers.

First one came out pointy and felt rough...but the second one seemed "egg-shaped" and smoother.

The EE (Scully) had seemed very out of sorts yesterday.....could it be that she was holding her first egg in and finally couldn't help laying two the next day?
