I was pretty proud of my chicken when she laid a double yoke. She is dead now.

Sorry to hear that. I dread the day I find one of my girls dead or taken by a predator. Im gonna live in La La land and pretend itll never happen.

That chicken was a very good tame chicken. She lived a wonderful life roaming our 5 acres. We are pretty sure she died of old age.

I was excited to see that first egg at 19 weeks and since then we have found a total of 12 (maybe 11) eggs from the 14 girls. I know most are from different chickens, but I do have several eggs that I assume are from the same chicken. I am confused it has been more than a week since I found a pink/orange/speckled egg, I wonder if her egg color changed. I have plenty of blue and green eggs, with a large white one found today.

I got my first egg yesterday! don't have pics but it was a perfect little pink egg, just smaller than a normal grade A store egg, it even had little white specks all over it! it was pink and dappled white from my adorable little girl katrina, the youngest of my four non laying pullets, one laying three to go!

I forgot to take a pic right away, so here's my first egg

It was delicious and felt like Christmas morning when I found it in the nesting box! I'm hoping there will be one tomorrow, too.
