My pullet did not lay today... She laid her first egg on Monday, one yesterday but today nothing... She seemed to be 'trying" to lay an egg becuase she is running in an out of nesting boxes an then now she is just sitting in one... Is it common for pullets to skip days in there first week/month of egg laying?
She has oyster an is on layer feed...

Yep, they definitely skip days while learning...and even later may skip a day a week.

Ok my chickies just started laying last week.. I have 2 RIR, 2 Barred Rock, 1 BO, and a white one (not sure about her breed). They are all 19 weeks today. I got a total of four eggs last week-I think the RIR are laying. So far all eggs are small, golf ball size approx. So 2 questions... Are these ok to eat and when will they increase in size? Not in any hurry, just curious and need to know what to look for. Thanks for the help!
Yep, we ate ours! Yes they will increase in size as they age...

Lucy (my 20 week old Isa Brown) laid her very first egg yesterday (7/3/13) ... this is the very first egg for the hubby & I also :)

INDEPENDENCE EGGS!

When I went out to feed the chickens this morning, I found the top egg in the coop. I think it was laid an hour before because I heard some ruckus around that time. I think it may be my leghorn mutt, Christiana. As I approached the coop, my buff orpington, Shy, was making a bunch of noise in the coop and laid an egg for me! They tend to "copy" each other. I have three other chickens so the wait is on for them!

I wasn't really expecting it so soon. I was putting it out of my head because I didn't want to get all worked up. I just checked the math though, and it makes sense. They are all about 6 months old.
