Post your FIRST EGG pics!

This is our first egg - unfortunately NOT in the nesting box, even though the hens have been making a heck of a lot of noise and keep on going in and out of the nesting box...

Anyway, non chicken people just don't get why I'm so excited, so I have to share somewhere
I thought the vintage plastic egg cup a good way to display this tiny egg.

We found our second egg today - 50% heavier, but more importantly *IN* the nesting box.

My Buff Orpingtons may not be Rhodes Scholars, they aren't even Rhode Island Reds, but at least 1 has figured out that nesting box isn't completely ornamental.

This is the first egg from our Buff Orp! She was checking out the nest box all morning. Then she started digging around in the shavings in the coop. I closed up the coop and left her alone. Later I noticed that everyone was out of the coop and they were standing by the door of the run, ready to go out for the day. When I got to the run, I noticed that Buffy was squatting with all her might. I got the door open and she laid the egg right at that moment!!! I'm hoping the next egg will make it into the nest box instead of near the run door.

It's such a beautiful little egg!!!

My first two eggs!!!!

The one on the right was found on Thursday, the one on the left found on Saturday afternoon. Both by Hilde, my superblue (ameraucana/leghorn) at 22 weeks. The first egg is green and the second is all blue and noticeably larger!

Black star egg on the left. It was layed on the 14th of September this year.

first egg!! Layed this morning! Still warm in my hand! Im so very proud of my girls i dont know who layed this but im still proud! I think it was layed by a sex link maybe red sex link? It had 1 full yolk and a tiny one the size of a little finger nail? But it tasted good but it was an odd egg with the small yolk never seen anything like it before but shes only 18 weeks so that might be the reason?

Thats really cool that she laid an egg that had one small and one normal yolk!! Good for you!!!!!!

Probably, my sex link's egg had two full sized yolks.

I just enjoyed the first of many eggs to come I'm sure. Delish! Mythbusters; brown eggs do not taste like chocolate nor do they taste different.

Oh my!! Another egg today!!! The lighter colored one is mine and the chocolate is a jumbo store bought egg my friends were so suprised when i told them my first egg was the size of a jumbo!!!!! I am so proud!! Good job rouge!!!! You did awesome
