Yay! We got our first egg today!

I actually found two, but since they were under the roost instead of in the nestbox, I left one out in the box to see if they will start laying there instead. I'm SOOOOOOO Stoked!

Here's the first egg from our Barred Hollands. It is not exactly white and neither are any of the others we have gotten since. One is even a good bit darker. Don't know what's going on with that but they are good hens. The got right in the nest box just like they were supposed to do.

FINALLY!!!!! One of my twenty 21 week old hens(RIR) laid her first egg today!! This is my first egg ever. How exciting!! I can't wait for the kids to get home from school. It's the tiny one on the right.

Harriet, my 27 w.o. RIR, achieved the miracle of laying an egg! I forgot to check one day, and when I finally looked there were two! She even laid them in the nest boxes, just like she was supposed to. Amazing!
