I just got my first eggs this week. I now have 3! What an exciting week it has been! Jeanmarie

My husband found them yesterday while I was at work. The large one is almost the size of a store-bought "large." I am guessing that the darker ones are from my Marans and that the lighter one is from a Silver Laced Wyandotte. That would also fit in with the way they have matured - although they are the same age, the Marans seem to have matured the fastest, the Silve Laced next and the EEs last.

The maran eggs are beautiful! Congrats!!!! They are so big. My pullet eggs are small. Good for you!

Thank you! Instead of a hug, they got their wing feathers clipped today! They weren't too happy about that, but they were going over the fence and the dogs got two - so, sorry chickies, no high flying any more.

I have never clipped wings. My DH enclosed my run. He is so sweet. You can give hugs today!

My chickens (Born July 23) are still in temporary housing from the hurricane (big coop half built now) so they are in the garage. My Mom was trying to take a nap and called me in and said she heard a noise that sounded like one of the birds layed an egg (she has no chicken experiance either).
I went out and checked and there it was!

I can't believe, we finally got one too! At 28 1/2 weeks old.

I just realized, I don't know how to upload pictures, but it is a good sized brown speckled egg, and I am just so proud of the girl
