After patiently waiting 28 weeks the first Egg is laid by the Buff Rock (Rocky)on Thanksgiving morning. The afternoon prior to this first egg an indent was made in the nest box straw very similar to a bird nest you would see in a tree. I could almost be sure an egg would be arriving any day. Yes today it happened! Nice timing Rocky. Now the other 3 Buff Orph's need to get with the program.
Our first eggs! November 24, 26 and 27. I have 5 Black Sex Links so I have no idea who laid what... I don't even know if it's the same chicken laying the eggs!
PS My girls were 8 weeks the first week of September when I got them - so they were just shy of 5 months when the first egg was laid. We have a timer for light and a heat lamp. They molted in November too...
We have our first egg!!! Heard alot of noise from Shelly, and thought something like a squirell was out there.... ran and looked and there it was !! I tried to upload a pic but it says it is the wrong type not a jpeg, but it is, so not able to post a pic!! But we have an egg!!!!
