Holy cow!!!! That's HUGE!

I would have fainted! LOL!!! All my first eggs from my four girls were normal and a little on the small side and are very gradually getting larger. The marans eggs are getting a bit darker all the time and some have darker speckles on them at one end.

My barred rock, Fernie, lays the smallest ones. I'm pleased anyway. But if I get one THAT big I'll check for an ostrich!

Thanks so much. She's been looking ready to lay for 2 weeks... I think she was working on it for a while - and ended up with two small eggs fused together into a double yoke beauty. It will be interesting to see how the size changes in the future...

Got my very first egg from a girl I raised. I've had three hens laying for a while now, but I got them grown and already laying. I'm so proud, and the color is amazing. It's a deep olive color now, and I'm sure it will lighten, but gorgeous it is! So tiny compared to my others.
She was so proud we were all singing with her!!!

Here's my girl (blk w/ gold neck). Not sure of her breed but if anyone has a guess, feel free to tell me

We got our first ever chicks this spring and have received the majority of our info from BYC (you guys are fantastic). Friday the guy at the mill said no oyster shell for another month, THE NEXT DAY we found two little gems in one box! I knew it was soon for our black sex link, her comb and wattle were so much brighter than the rest of the girls and someone has been shifting around the materials in the nesting box! I think my neighbors heard me holler for the kids, not sure who was more excited! Half my girls are turning 18 weeks tomorrow that includes the one I suspect is laying, the rest will be 17 weeks!!

This is one of our black sex links, the other one we have has far more red around the neck. They are a cross with Rhode island redo I believe. Maybe what yours is. Ours are on the larger side.

Thanks! I never expected her to be one of the first to lay of my pullets. I believe she is a blk sex link. She has a couple of feathers on her feet as well. Many of my girls are mixed. Very proud of all, mutts and all;-)
