Not sure who laid it! I am new to chickening? LOL It's either Ginger or Fluffy, although we found 1 in the morning and then one later that evening, sooo thinking maybe they both started? anywho this is the first egg we found.

Almost 2 inches long from "Plucky" our Silver Laced Wyandotte! She's at the bottom of the pecking order of 4 but first to please! So surprised it was shaped so perfectly. Officially 28 weeks old, just over 6 months.

We got our first 2 eggs from our three new RIRs!! My two boys were soooo excited!!! They both think their chickens laid them and their sisters chicken did not lol. We have no idea! New to this backyard chicken stuff :)

My first time raising quail and I'm having so much fun with them, for a minute I forgot I didn't raise them just for entertainment's sake. Then tonight when I came home from work, there they were!! I'm in heaven! Best-tasting eggs on the planet!!

Thanks LeiaLayers5! :) I'm over the moon about getting eggs finally. I've got chickens too, but they're still about two months from laying.

So far, I'm finding the quail incredibly easy and fun to raise. Not only was their hutch WAY easier to build, given the size difference (10x6x6 for chickens vs. 6x5x2 for quail) but I don't have to bother with making nest boxes for them. I just built their floor on a slant so eggs will roll on out into a trough at the front. Naturally, these first three eggs were layed in the sandbox I gave them but that's okay. :)

I recommend quail keeping. They're silly little pop-pops that make me laugh and their eggs are out of this world good, even better then chicken's. Go for it! :)
