I can't tell you just how excited I was to open the lid to the nesting box (just as I had done every day for weeks!) and found our first EGG! I've been waiting my whole life for that moment! I always wanted a Farm and I dreamed of one day having my very own Hens. Nothing prepared me for the elation I felt today! I still feel it!!! Is this normal??? Lol it's that proverbial kid at Christmas Joy! Pure Bliss! I feel Proud! Like I laid it myself! HAHAHAH it's silly but Chickens make me Happy and today was a red letter day for sure! I can't wait to run out and check the coop in the morning!

Congrats! Believe me it is normal to feel that way. I have wanted to get chickens almost my whole life. This spring I finally did. My pullets have been laying for 3 weeks I think and I still feel like a kid on Christmas morning when I go to collect eggs!

Congrats!! You have just summed up exactly how I felt yesterday when we found our first egg!! I just keep staring at it, holding it.

I'm so proud. Laid by my 19.5 week old Barred Rock, Kate, this morning at 8:50 a.m. I was fortunate enough to be out by the coop to hear her lovely egg song.

It's a perfect egg ... next to a large egg from the store for size comparison.

YAY it's a happy day.

Our first egg! The RIR inspects the egg laid by our Buff Orpington at 18 wks of age. The girls have been clucking about it all morning. Who will be next? We have 4 pullets, all hatched the same day. Besides the two mentioned above, the others are an Australorp and a SL Wyandotte.
