The first eggs from my 5 red sex-links were 42/43 grams, 1.5 ounce. At 38 weeks they average 65 grams, 2.25 ounce. My first egg, 43 grams shown with a ceramic egg.

So very proud of my EE for laying her first egg ever today, at 36 weeks... and a very merry late Christmas to me!

It's official, they're all girls

We got a New Year's Day surprise. Our very first egg on the first day of the year!
I opened their run to let them out in the yard and only one came out. I couldn't figure out what happened to the other. Lo and behold! Our Blue Wyandotte went in the 'poop' tray under the coop, where it's dark and private, and laid an egg.
