At 22 weeks old, our Production RIR's each laid an egg this weekend. The first appeared Saturday from Chickaletta, the second Sunday from Tater Rocker and we got another from Chickaletta yesterday. We are still waiting for our Barred Rock "Nuggz" to make her first deposit but as you can see, my boys couldn't have been more excited to find these in the nest boxes this weekend! All three hens began to do "the squat" on or near February 24th and 8 days later we started getting eggs. Our first adventure into raising chickens has been so great and something that the whole family has been able to enjoy.

I have a chicken named Chickaletta too. The coop is even named after her. She was also our very first egg layer on October 2nd.

I was just about to say "Look out, that 'coon is back..." :p 4 blue eggs in 24 hours. Since I have only one hen that I KNOW lays blue that means at least one of them is new. WHICH one(s?) is anybody's guess.
Lol iwas freaking at first....coon and all.... then i saw the doggy!! Too cute! If i may. ... it looks like you have two blue layers. ....outta the 4 they look like two hens that laid 2 each. What kind of birds do you have? Could you post some pictures of them? Maybe all of us could help us out!

Congratulations!!! That's a nice basket!!

I got all my hens fully grown. But I got an egg the day after we got them. I picked them up from a friend about 8:30 pm on Feb 25, 2017 and had an egg the next day despite the new environment and nearly freezing temperatures.

Only a month later and I'm up to 7-9 eggs per day!
