Mabel, my second barred rock's first egg! It's speckled and beautiful!

She will eventually. My other barred rock is a machine! The first in the nest to lay every morning. I assume she will be the same. I was also surprised about the color. My first barred rock, Edith lays a lighter egg. I figured they would be the same color since they are the same breed. Similar, but Mabel is laying darker.

Every time a chicken lays her first egg my dad says, "Well, that's one more off the fried chicken list!"

I could not eat any of my girls. After giving them names and bonding with them it would be so wrong!

So far I am getting mint green, med brown, and pink eggs!
