Yay Lil' Phil! My second egg layer.



Phillie's egg compared to Onyxia's first egg that was laid last week (Phil's on left)



and compared to Onyxia's 7th egg laid today (Phil's on left)



Ony's first one had a lot of white speckling that has since been lost, I'm assuming Phil's will lose that white speckling too but I may be able to tell them apart as it looks like Phils will be a lighter pinker brown than Ony's. We'll see in a week or so.

Another first for me on Saturday, I got to hear my first chicken song.. amazing.

The big brown came from our BCM, she's been laying about 3 weeks now.
The light olive is only the 4th from our Ameraucana, finally showing a better size.
The new arrival today, a pinkish and pretty big for a first timer. Came from one of these:

Phillie is a Production Rhode Island Red her's is the egg in the top pic and on the left in the bottom 2. The egg on the right in the bottom 2 pics is Onyxia's my Black Sex Link.

Very nice BCM egg! I love that something extra they bring to the basket. The dark with all the shades or brown,green, and white...lovely.

Haha well, we are a small urban flock and I would consider my ladies more pets than something I am herding and ranching. They do earn their spot in our yard as food producers, but they have us tied tightly around their little chicken talons.

Isn't that the truth. Hard to imagine how quickly they become members of the family. When I told my husband I wanted chickens he kind of rolled his eyes. Now when I can't find him I know to look in the chicken coop, I usually find him talking softly and stroking the hens. Think he loses hours in there. LOL
