Cluck is the hen at the front of that picture. All of my chickens are Australorps. She laid another one but hasn't laid since. With the age and the weather, I wasn't expecting them to be consistent yet. She is just gorgeous and has always been the largest of the pullets. When I bring feed and scraps, she heads for the grit bowl first. Maybe she knows how important it is to pick the best rocks before eating:) I used the two pullet eggs and one large grocery store egg for my pancakes, and it was insane how dark the yolks were in comparison to the factory farmed egg.

So ecxited today we have or first egg from one of our 3 cuckoo marans and i suspect who was it, i noticed one of them has a very bright red combo and today she give us the surprise, the white egg is a commercial AA grade

This is my first egg found sunday compared to a store egg. There is nothing like the feeling, is there?! I was really surprised because I have 16 pullets that hatched late april and I just decided that they would not be laying for a few monthes because I am not able to provide artificial light for them, and living in alaska, we are getting around7-8 hours of daylight per day! The first one was real early and, surprisingly, was not frozen. Yesterday I got one almost the same, also under the roost where 3 black chickens were (I'm pretty sure an australorp is the amazing girl! As of today, I got my brother chicken sitting so I do not know. Don't they lay an hour later every day? And why is she the only one? I think your chicken looks some what like an americana or something. Maybe.

They will all kick in at some point. I have a BCM hen who lays about every 25-26 hours like clock work. I have 2 hens, a Tetra Tint and a Red sex-link who lay every 22-24 hours, always in the same box one right after the other. Today, someone copied them, don't know who it was but she is laying 1 every week or so. It's a weird chicken science of things...
