I have 6 adult hens and 14 girls that are 21 weeks. I am pretty sure the small egg below was from one of my young ones! I didn't see her laying, but I am so excited for what is to come

I found my scond egg this morning laying under the roost, broken with a soft shell on one side. My first egg was 2 days ago.the first was found in the nest box with a perfect shell. Do you think a sceond hen has laid the soft shell? We had bad storms yesterdayhere I Alabama, maybe the thunder scared the egg out of her while she was roosting. They have oyster shell available to them.

Yes they r on layer. We needed the rain also!

Okay just watched one of my girls lay this on the coop floor. Shed been in the nest box for ab hour. She hopped out to take a drink and her egg popped out. Very small not softshelled but beautiful!

Mama heather there are some signs you could look for. Biggest brightest comb and wattles would be a start, if a hen squats when you go to pet her, if you hear one signing the egg song... bawk bawk begaw! If you post picks of your hens then someone might be able to help you out in narrowing it down. But You May Not Know For Sure Unless You See The Culprit Laying The egg!

Found this in the run this morning. We think our 17 week old gold sexlink laid it. It's about half the size of a supermarket egg.
