In the Brooder
Our first dark brown egg from our Barnevelder. She did good. We had to really work with the ceramic eggs with our Wyandottes to get them to use the nesting box. My Bernie was a natural, beautiful clean first egg nestled gently with the ceramic egg in the nesting box. I'm so proud of her. She doesn't have much of a comb but I did notice more reddening around the face, she's been squatting for about 2-weeks and I knew the time was coming. I am verrrrrrryyy happy. It's been below freezing here in the Pacific NW with about 8 hours of natural daylight, we don't substitute, and three of our girls are laying regularly. Just waiting on the Spitzhauben now
