I found these in my yard, behind the coop this morning. I'm assuming they're from the stray light Sussex I took in last week. Two of them are cracked, but aside from those, do they look normal? These are our first eggs, and I just want to make sure they're ok to eat (not the cracked ones).

those are really pretty. they look like marble.

so one of my bantam's laid their first egg of the season. i don't know if it was my sebright or one of her daughters, but here it is.

it's a lovely tinted pink egg.

I have a new little flock of 18 hens (and down to one roo) bought from McMurray Hatchery arrived Oct 13, 2015.
Mixed: 2 white Leghorns, 3 black Australorps, 1 New Hampshire Red, 3 RIR, 1 black Jersey Giant, 1 Silver Spangled Hamburg, 5 Easter Eggers and 2 more grey/white chickens not identified.

This morning we were thrilled to find our first egg.

Later we found another.

We just found another a little bit ago!!!

Woo hoo!!

Brown, blue, brown.

I got my first nine chickens this past Saturday. 3 RIR, 3 golden comets, and three barred rocks. They were all 18 weeks old when I bought them. This afternoon one of the RIR was in a box for a while and I checked and sure enough, my first egg. I noticed she had swept a bunch of the bedding to the front of the nest box so about an hour later I opened it to add more bedding. At that time one of the comets was in the nest box. I left her alone and sure enough she had laid an egg also. After I removed the second egg I added about four inches of pine straw to the boxes and them put some pine shaving on top of them to make it nice and soft. Ill see how they react to that.

Below is my first egg.

And here is number 1 and 2 together.

How long do eggs last in the fridge

A loooooong time. The eggs you get from the store are usually a month old by the time you buy them. I usually just drop them in water before I crack them to be sure it's good if in not sure. If it touches the bottom it's fine. If it floats toss it. Usually you can smell it when an egg is bad. There's no real set amount of time they stay good. Fridges are different and such. Just test them if they have been in there a while
