You guys have no idea how long I've been waiting to post here e From Bluebell, our 24 week old buff orpington :yiipchick Not too shabby for a first timer, it's only a bit smaller than large grocery store eggs and a very pretty, almost pink color

I wonder if it's the bloom that makes them have that pale pink color. I washed some and they seem more brown after.

Perhaps! She laid a second one today and when I took it out of the nest box my fingerprints got on it - the moisture made the area around my fingers darker, but they fade after a few seconds. I haven't tried washing them yet since I'm keeping them on the counter for now!

Just got my first French Black Marans egg today! I'm excited but a little disappointed that it isn't darker. I'm hoping that they will get darker as she continues to lay but I won't hold my breath.

Yay!! First egg here! Not sure who laid it out of our mixed flock, but am thinking it is our Australorp. The girls are 23 weeks old.
