I would show a picture and do a happy dance, but it was on the floor, crushed and 3/4 eaten.

SO swore we wouldn't see eggs until September. Yesterday, his son was very happy to show him he was wrong!

Today I cleaned the coop with a pullet fussing at me the whole time for tearing up her house. Well as soon as I finished she made a b-line to the laying boxes and after about 5 minutes gave me my first egg! Finally! She's 24 weeks and 3 days old today so I guess it's about on schedule but dang did it feel like forever coming. Time for all her sisters to get busy too!

The picture is next to a store-bought grade A Large egg.

I was just complaining about my chickies not laying yet and I knew it could be any day.... so I went out to the coop around 3:00 to check on them with food/water and found a teeny tiny surprise.....

The white egg in the second picture is a small egg (store bought!). I love BYC, my co-workers don't really understand how important the "first egg" is! My husband just said, "it's about time".

I had my first 2 ten days ago and had been waiting patiently. Yesterday I opened the nest box (from the outside of the coop) and ACTUALLY SAW AN EGG LAYED! The Golden Campine had her butt towards me, and her head outside the box (in the inside of the coop). What are the chances of seeing one as its dropped, and only the third egg I've ever produced (so to speak). Yoohoo!

Types of hens are all in my sig. All of which are 15 weeks old or so.

I'll dig around for how to measure. Thanks for the info!
