We have 9 female and 2 male buff orpingtons. Yesterday, one of the girls gave us our first egg! 21 weeks and 2 day old.
Today there was another in the nest box!

How they KNOW to come inside from free ranging to lay in a nest box is beyond me. Just magic, I guess, like how they knew how to jump up to the top roost the first time in the coop and how they put themselves to bed. I LOVE chickens!!!

They're blue! Is it my screen or yours? Those particular eggs have been eaten, but I they are just plain ol pastel blue. After reading the breed thread, I'm not sure if they are Easter Eggers or not, but I am thinking so. The brown is from an australorp.

I got my first egg last night. I have 8 Isa Brown Pullets, but I have no idea who gave this egg.
Just pumped to finally have one!

First egg from my RIR (27 weeks) today. . . nice size for a first egg, and streaked with a small amount of blood. She is acting just fine, so I am not worried. . . Barred Rock has been laying for 3 weeks now, so today is my first multiple egg day! Looks like one of the EE's is getting ready, too. . . exciting. Also interesting, The BR lays a medium brown egg, the RIR lays a light brown egg. . . it's nice to be able to tell them apart!

Here it is, nearly 21 weeks to the day since they were hatched. This one is from one of the Rhode Island Reds.
