Congrats everyone.

You know what's funny, my husband has the first chickens right now that are *his*. I had him pick out a couple chickens last spring to order and he got a couple of Buff Silkies. Now, this is a man that typically wants nothing to do with the birds. His Silkies just started laying eggs this week (two so far). He has them setting out in the kitchen/dining room on a towel like they are diamonds or something. He hasn't "decided yet" what he wants to do with them, LOL. I was like, well are going to have them bronzed or something? Funny.

hey we just got our 1st egg a week ago. I stood there holding it like, now what do I do? My husband suggested that we blow it out and save the shell for show. we now have 5 blown egg shells.

only 2 more eggs and everyone in the family will have eaten a home grown egg. one of our buff brahma bantum is the first and only to lay so far. we also have EE and silkies that are freeloading us for all we're worth.

We waited 8 months for these! I think they were from a Wyandotte or RIR.
