WooHoo! My EE laid her first egg today and its a green one! Now I have two pullets laying! Yay!

Yippee!!!! First ever egg!!! I think it was my RIR who is 16 weeks old, she is acting very lethargic this evening so I am pretty sure it was her. I finally got to do the first egg dance!!!! I just wish it was the older ones who went first.

FINALLY I can chime in here....after 2 weeks of waiting and watching, I finally found this in the coop this afternoon:

I was so happy, you'd think I'd laid the egg myself!!

It's a bit dirty, whoever the lucky hen was laid it on the floor just outside a nest box. At least she got it in the vicinity LOL. It cleaned up nicely with a damp paper towel and is now sitting in the fridge while I let the excitement wear off enough to eat it!

My egg scale shows it's a "medium" egg and I was pretty suprised how big it is for a pullet egg. It's about as "tall" as a store-bought egg but is quite a bit skinnier. Wonder if it could be a double yolk?

I'm assuming this had to come from one of my red sex-link hens, they're among the oldest, right at 18 weeks!

My mom is coming to visit next week and she is really excited to meet my chickens....I was SO hoping they'd start laying by or before the week she would be here so she could collect eggs.....I am THRILLED that they started laying "right on time" so my mom can really enjoy them!!!

FRESH NEW egg from our LBxBR or LBxBSL from Pandora, she didn't go into the nest boxes like the others so it was pretty grubby, I'm surprised it didn't break since it was in the run. So I told my 6 yo, "put it closer to your face" (so we could show how small it is)...here's how he did it:

Here is my first egg ever!

It has been so hot here, I can't believe I got anything at all. Clearly someone was working hard for this one as it lacks in beauty somewhat.

Here' s my proud hen, though it's also possibly the one in the corner giving me the stink eye for taking the other ones picture instead of hers! ha ha

And here's Eva, she's just bitter she didn't get to go first.

We're joining the egg club today. I have no idea which of our comets laid it but I'm so excited. The only problem. I found the egg in the run and not in the nesting box. Hopefully she'll figure out where to lay it next time.

Well, it's about time I got to post in this thread. I thought the heat would keep the girls from starting, but at least one of them tried to prove me wrong. Not sure whose it is, other than ruling a few out by color. Got one while I was at work yesterday, and another today! Yay!

They are a bit on the small side, but hopefully that will improve with practice...

All of the ladies are 18 weeks old.
