Pics
Well, we found our first three in a nice little nest made in the middle of a big chunk of star thistle. Had hubby knock it down with the weed whacker. All eggs now are in the nest boxes where they should be!

I love looking at the pictures of all the first eggs - can you post, with the pics, the age and kind of bird that laid the egg (if you know)? I am curious as to when and what my flock with produce.

Thanks!

Woo hoo! All that squatting paid off!

I'm pretty sure it was the one in the middle here:

She's the only one squatting.

The egg I posted (shown previously) was from either a Golden Comet or a Barred Plymouth Rock. That's the only hens I've got. I don't know which laid the egg though. It was in one of the nest boxes this morning.

First egg today!!! Found it outside in their run, off in the corner, instead of in the coop, but no complaints!
Not sure which one of my RIR's it came from, but I am glad to see some fruit for all that work (well, all THEIR work).

Man, it's a good day!

Here is a pic of our first egg..laid day before yesterday...egg number 2 came today. We are still not sure which girl laid but we know which one did not...our EE is not the guilty party. It is a nice light brown with unusual darker brown marbling...egg two was the same. A bit small (about the size of a small medium egg from the store)...Nice thing...they have great hard shells and egg #1 had a beautiful dark yellow bordering on orange yolk.

Choices of the responsible party are 2 BAs, 1 NHR, 1 Lt Brahma and 1 SLW they are almost 22 weeks old. Any ideas?

How long should I expect these smaller eggs?
