As you can see, it is HUGE (OK, not huge

)

Here it is with the 1 1/2 dozen large eggs from the grocery store.

First two (and only so far) eggs. Presumably from one or more Faverolle. Laid 3 days apart, must be time for the next one!

Nice hard shells and orange yolks.

She was very stand offish before starting to lay & now she's lovey dovey.

Yeah, it is weird. Uwe (Ancona) hasn't laid her first egg yet but she has now twice jumped up on my back when I was leaning over in the run in front of the nest box. This is a chicken that wouldn't get close enough to take something from my hand until I brought out the BOSS, they ALL love, love, love it.She was belting out the egg song last Sunday but so far, nada, zilch.

Bruce~try putting apple cider vinager in the water-just a drop or two, and cyanne pepper on their food. that's what did it for mine...now i'm getting 5-6 eggs a day. i'm hoping to start getting 13 real soon (that's how many i have)

It was a little hard to tell. Since there were only the 2 little ones, a whole 2 tablespoons of egg, I scrambled them up and mixed them in with fried rice to "stretch" them so their flavor was all mixed in with the other stuff.

BUT, we got one more on Sunday (egg on right, laid in the coop), center two on Monday. (store bought Large on the left for comparison)

The middle two were here (Ya gotta look hard, click the picture for the larger photo. One at either end)

And THREE today, all on the left side of the box. So we are getting enough (IF they keep it up and the others jump on board the egg train) to cook as "individuals" for the family

With eggs this size, I have come up with a new form of chicken math:
2 egg omelettes for 4 = 16 eggs
