So after stalking this thread for a few weeks... my hubby bought us a game cam! We put it in our tiny wooded area on our 7 acres... we know we have all sorts of animals. So far only deer caught on cam, though. I'll post pics this week!

Darkmatter, you've posted quite a few pics of coons in front of your coop. Have you trapped any? With that much activity I'm really surprised one hasn't made it inside. They're known to be extremely persistent. I was told that if they found my coop and knew chickens were inside, they wouldn't rest until they dug, climbed, tore or squeezed in and got their booty! I can see your chickens inside the window ledge - have you lost any chickens to preds this summer? I wish I didn't get so worried when a coon shows up here - I find myself sleep-walking outside around the coop 2 and 3 times a night until we trap it! And your coons look pretty fat and healthy. The ones around me are scrawny, thin lookin varmints! Beautiful buck at your salt stump!

Yes, I've trapped many, 14 in one summer, 8 so far this year. The Windows have Hailscreen over them with the edges firmly fasten down with wood strips. The pop door and people door have good latches.
