They are! I do a lot of biking on trails near our home, I've seen a lot more rattlers this year than I normally do.

This thread is great...love the pics of all the animals except the dead deer and the rifle but that's just me. Am from Australia but living here in GA...I have never seen any of these animals before in real-life..not even a raccoon! I have seen a possum oh and the rabbit but that's it!

I replied since your comment reminded me of a story from spring this year.

My former classmate had a couple visiting from overseas and a raccoon walked up to the porch one evening...the woman had never seen one and started baby talking to it. "Oo is so coot? Oo is so coot? Oo are! Oo are!" (Not making fun of her, haha, just attempting to write out her accent) She got up and leaned toward the raccoon, and everyone warned her not to get close, cute has one hell of a bite. But she insisted it was too sweet to be mean.

"I want to pet."
"No, don't pet the raccoon, it will bite you. Really."
"It no bite me."
"Yes. Raccoons bite."
"I pet now."

It stood up with hunched shoulders, bared it's teeth, and hissed. She looked taken aback and went in for the night.
