Post your import breed wishes here....

Does anyone know how the legalities of this importing of eggs works? Can anyone put me in touch with an honest breeder in France? I'll be going to Paris four times next month, I'd love to hand carry a few Marans eggs back.

No one is interested in some of those gorgeous brahmas? America could always use more of those

I'd like to know , Oblio, what takes you to Paris four times in a month, and how I can do it too!?

Me for the golden laced orps, especially, and I too would contribute to the kind of schemes everyone's talking about.

There are no schemes. This must be made absolutely clear to anyone seriously interested in such a venture.

This will cost money and it won't be cheap. There will be no $25 for a dozen eggs including shipping.

Interest in this sort of venture will run into the hundred + dollars per each person.

This is an inquiry into who would be willing to pony up the proper funds to legally secure better breeding stock through importation of eggs from the UK and Europe.

You should be aware of the liabilities for smuggling in eggs illegally. Customs agents don't care what you do or don't have financially. they can come in and seize every thing you own. They can destroy every living animal on your place and anyone else's animals that you have come in contact with.

There is a very regulated process to be followed. Eggs brought into the US can't even leave the import center in the same box they arrived in.

Do NOT think you can go undetected with smuggled eggs. You will pay dearly when caught.

Indeed. I most likely won't have this kind of money until next Spring, maybe this fall. But I am MOST serious about this. I'm looking at investing hundreds of dollars into show birds or Marans eggs next Spring... I might as well invest it into something truly great! I don't know who we could get to be in charge of this, or what kind of contracts might need to be written up, if any..... but I am sooo excited about the possibility of this venture coming to fruition!

It is something I cannot personally do without MUCH trouble because I live nowhere close to either major airport and I don't even know anyone in those states.

With the combined manpower and funds of the participating BYC members (whoever they will end up being) I can see this being the chance of a lifetime for serious chicken enthusiasts and breeders. SO EXCITING!
