***Post your pics of chicken dinners, please***

We do 100 at a time so we can use a few for early treats. We butcher 1/2 at 3-4 lbs for grilling and let the rest go to 8+ for canning.

I like this thread! One day when I eat some of my own birds, I'll have to post here...but for now I'll just keeping reading & droolin'! LOL

Oh and I'm hoping to get some "dual-purpose" birds next spring to range about, lay eggs (consistently) and I'll eat the extra roos...so we'll see!

It was a Cornish X, I raised them till 8 weeks and got most of them over 5.5 pounds. Out of 47 birds only 4 were in the 4 pound range, several 5 pound range and about 9 were in the 6 pound range.

All those dishes look great! I'm jealous of you all, for being able to process chickens for the table. I have my first flock of 6, they are 10 weeks old, and I have 3, possibly 4 roos that I would LOVE to eat! I still don't know what I'm going to do. Hoping I can find a neighbor to help. If I could get past the mental block, I'd get more straight run chicks, and eat the roos. Mine free range most days and are given lots of attention. I just know they'd reward me with deliciousness!

Man, all of these look delicious!

6 month old Dominique roo, skinned and cooked in a roasting bag... Tons of breast meat-suprisingly tender! Yes, the legs were a little dry
