"Postcard from your duck" by Jennifer Gordon-Very sad...

I wrote an article before easter about abandoning ducks in the local parks and ponds, I sent it to the newspaper.... did they publish it? No. Should they have? Yes. I got 3 pekins about 3 weeks after easter from a woman who lived in the city and in a covenant community. I will say she did take good care of them but why get them in the first place when you arent allowed to have them in a covanant let alone within the city limits there? gah. Well I got them. I kept them a while and then rehomed them to a lovely lady with a pond on her farm. They are happy now.

This was on our website, and we included pictures of the actual postcard duck. He did lay there for 4 days while people walked past him all day long and no one cared.

He was doing so well and came down with a secondary infection and later died after we worked so hard to save him.

RIP Postcard Duck

So glad you brought this back up.
I certainly hope that people READ this BEFORE they purchase ANYTHING live for Easter(or any time, for that matter).
Animals, in my opinion, are not a proper gift. You should never SURPRISE anyone with something that requires a long term commitment.

I've seen something similar to this for abandoned dogs before.

The ignorance of people is astonishing-- I've been thinking about making a PSA add for my local craigslist in the pet section about domestic ducks not being "parkable" but we appear to have people who make it their bitter full time job to flag craigslist adds all day long. (One time, when I was homing foster puppies, some people went through and flagged every single puppy add one weekend, just because it was an add for a puppy and they didn't think there should be adds on craigslist for puppies that day I guess.) I'm not sure if I could keep it active enough to benefit anyone. Once your add gets flagged down a couple times, it only takes ONE person to knock it off again from that point on.
