Katy, that embarq woman is probably still laughing at me from asking her if Iwould be able to tell a difference from my dial up! Apparently so as much of a kick as she got out my asking that!! MY teenager threw his hands in the air and said "Finally!!"

I always try to post nothing larger than 150KB, (approx. 20-25sec. on dialup), but usually stick at 50KB. Webresizer or Google's Picasa are pretty good (Picasa's resizing function is accessed through File/Export To).

Webresizer will allow you to minimize `em quick (also free to use downloadable software).

I'm an old fogey still using Graphics Workshop 2.0, because it's a devil I know.

I remember what dialup is like (only switched to DSL last year when it became available) so I try to keep fellow members on the narrow end of the `tube' in mind when I post. It's not like reducing the file size will ruin the shot, and lots of folks will actually see it instead of clicking away because they're watching their fingernails grow as my pic loads...

Was 1.5MB 1536xwho knows... : now reasonably `diminished' and only 130KB or so:

max image size: 320 x 240 (options)

is in the window to up load your pictures. Click on options, and then it gives you a list
Image Options
basic dimensions

avatar ( 100 x 75 ) 19" screen ( 1280 x 960 )
thumbnail ( 160 x 120 ) 21" screen ( 1600 x 1200 )
website, email ( 320 x 240 ) 22" screen ( 2048 x 1536 )
message board ( 640 x 480 ) 23" screen ( 2240 x 1680 )
15" screen ( 800 x 600 ) 2 megabyte file size
17" screen ( 1024 x 768 ) 5 megabyte file size
1 megabyte file size

I click on website, email (320x 240) this way it gives a decent size picture and it also uploads fairly quick on the internet for dialup users.
Hope this helps all

Here's a pic of some of the eggs I've been getting and a comparrison

I was stuck with dial up for over 2 years when we moved. I finally broke down and got Hughes Net a couple months ago. WOOHOO! I got my broadband back!
One nice thing about taking pics with your cell phone. They are small files and rarely have to be resized for posting to message boards, IM's etc

Yes, I have the same problem keeper. So now I edit the size with the photo program on my computer and then download them onto photobucket.

how do I change the size on photobucket? I am pretty sure mine are to big. Thanks in advance

Photobucket has an "edit" link above your picture you have downloaded. Click on that and it takes you to a different screen where you are able to change the size. I try and use the "Email_____" (something else I forgot ) because that makes it a size that is easier for dial up users to download.
