pot belly pigs - looking for info/answers!

thanks for all the info.
i went back and got another female, they seem happy together now and i dont feel so guilty if i cant get out there as much as i'd like because she has a friend now. this new one isnt as friendly yet but it only took me a week to get the first one jumping in my lap so she should do fine too!
can i give multi grain cherios to them? i have a box that is somewhat stale i doubt they would mind! do i just throw a handful in the stall and let them root around in the shavings to find them?

YAY!! SO glad I found this. I got my first female also!
Have to get to bed now, but Ill be back soon to read this all.

One question. So you guys feed one cup of mini piggy chow... is that one measured CUP or one drinking-cup-from-around-the-house full?
I think Ive been over feeding mine a bit, giving her pig chow and adding some cracked corn... but I didnt want her to be cold during the winter.

bluegrass- how old is your piggy? mine are still just babies. the woman i got them from said she took a handful of thier pellets and soaked until they were mush and fed it to all 6 of the babies. when you soak the pellets you see how much more it actually turns out to be. so now i give them prob a tablespoon not quite, of the pellets (each) and soak them. it makes around an ounce of food mushed. i give that twice a day. they seem starving! i feel like its not enough but im affraid to over feed them. the bag says to feed 2% of thier body weight. they cant be any more than 4 pounds now. im horrible with math so im not sure how much that turns out to be. are you feeding your babies a cup already??

Im not sure how old mine was when I got her, but she was probably a couple of months old. I got her in October. Ill see if I can get pics up and if anyone can tell me more!
Thanks.

only 30 lbs?! lucky, i hope mine stay that small but im not sure.. didnt get to see parents.

Ms. Kitty~ Pot Bellied Pigs are NOT immune to domestic pig illnesses! In fact, their small stature makes them more likely to be pestered by parasites and illnesses. Pigs can even get human flu strains. Our PB was a rescue and I had her tested for everything under the sun before bringing her near our KuneKune pigs. She was harboring a few things that had to be dealt with before she could be brought home. Just like all other animals PBs can get infections and diseases.

My husband got me a mini pig for my birthday. Not sure how big she will get yet. She's 3 months old and her mommy was a potbelly and her daddy is a mini pig. He's only about 50 pound, BUT, her mama is around 180 pounds. She's HUGE!!! My husband has already said if she's gonna get that big she's gonna have to be an outside pig. We feed her Mazuri mini pig food for youth. I feed her 1 cup 3 times a day and she acts like she's starving, lol. Constantly wanting to get into the dog and cats food. Squeals to high heaven when she wants more food, lol. She's almost worse than having a new puppy in the house, as far as getting into things and getting into trouble, lol. I am switching her over to the Mazuri adolescent feed now, hoping that will keep her appetite at bay. Any advice would be helpful, thanks. I have seen mini pigs that are severely obese and don't want my little Penny to end up that way. Thanks for any advice anyone can give me.
