Potting Soil

I had some plants in my brooder to keep my animals out of. My rabbit got on the porch and at them all then the goats got in and knocked the pots down.
JUST in time to put my babies in

Can I put them down on potting soil?

THe potting soil doesnt have the vermeculite or the fertilizer pellets, right?
