So I'm trying to potty train my 2 week old duckling(my husband says he trained his old duck by taking him outside every morning and after every meal) but I have no success, he never poops while hes out there. Usually hes a turd dropping little nugget but he never poops outside, I always miss the timing. Should I just wait until hes older and on a feeding schedule so I can predict his poops better? Put some food and water outside with him when I take him?

When they're young they do the shuffling and then pooping dance before pooping.
When they're grown they don't do those anymore. You can't predict a duck's pooping.

Birds systems are built to jettison weight as fast as possible, Because their supposed to be lightweight flyers. So they poop everywhere

They CAN hold it. Because broody hens will try hard not to poop on their nests. But thats a hormone triggered action.

i realy wish they could be trained :hit Dont stop trying mabye theyll atleast try and not poop everywhere

I have a chick trained to only poop on a white paper towel if I was holding her. That worked out great. Until one night when it was pretty dark and she thought my white iPhone was the white paper towel and took a big crap on it. She jumped down to my phone. Lined up just right. Did her business. Then turned and jumped right back up under my chin all like “aren’t you proud of me?” I couldn’t really scold her for it because she pooped on the white like I taught her. So I don’t know whether or not you can truly train a chicken or duck to consistently go outside like you could with a cat or dog. I’m sure it’s possible and people have probably done it. It would definitely be worth trying!
