Niacin and thiamine are very essential for poults. Perosis is common especially in broad breasted poults that are given a feed with inadequate niacin and thiamine.Hello! I think that it is a vitamin and mineral deficiency as well. Think of it kind of like rickets: the bones get weak and the joints start having trouble. That’s what you’re most likely seeing — just with a different deficiency. The food label has lysine in it, and that’s great, but the crude fat is not very descriptive. Something that is also pretty essential is choline, and manganese supplements do wonders as well. Niacin is not as crucial for poults as it is for waterfowl, but it, too, helps. Hope this helped! Let us know how the poult turns out!
Yes, and a classic sign is swelling of the hock and the leg twisting to the outside.Niacin and thiamine are very essential for poults. Perosis is common especially in broad breasted poults that are given a feed with inadequate niacin and thiamine.
I’m sorry, but I didn’t say it is not necessary. Vitamin B/Vitamin B Complex vitamins are important, but the primary focus of these vitamins is to boost the overall health of the bird by promoting a healthy nervous system.Niacin and thiamine are very essential for poults. Swollen hocks and leg twisting can be caused by more than one deficiency. The importance of choline is that it allows for vitamins, such as V-A and V-D to be dissolved and absorbed, as they are fat-soluble, and choline synthesizes the lipids they are able to do so in.
Remember, I’m not asking for help in this scenario — I’m merely giving advice regarding the situation. Hope this helps!
